Layers

Layers are used to separate different objects of the canvas. Layers are like transparencies stacked on another. Each layer can have different objects. A Hornil StylePix image can consist of multiple layers.

The above sample image 'Layers' is made up of five layers: the 'Text Object' layer, the 'Text Shadow' layer, the 'Green circle' layer, the 'Circle Shadow' layer and the Background layer. Each layer can be edited without affecting any other layer and can also have different opacity settings. The 'top' or 'bottom' is word specifies the stack order of an layer. A layer with greater stack order is always in front of an object with a lower stack order. Each layer can be changed the stacking order.

You can manage the layers using the hierachy.

Layer Properties

  • Name

The layer name is generated automatically when the layer is created. The generated name is unique but exactly need not be unique. You can change the name of the layer either by double-clicking on it in the hierachy window.

  • Opacity

The opacity represents the amount of transparency a layer has. Opacity ranges from 0 to 255, with 0 meaning complete transparency(that is, invisible), and 255 meaning completely opaque.

  • Blend Mode

The Blend Mode of a layer determines how colors from the layer are combined with colors from the underlying layers to produce a visible result.

  • Visibility

The layer visibility determines whether or not the layer is currently visible in the canvas. It is possible to temporarily remove a layer from an image, without destroying it.

  • Edit Lock

The edit lock determines whether or not the layer is editable. If the layer is locked, you can't select the layer by Select And Move tool.

Layer Style

The layer can have the styles such as shadow, glow and etc. You can easily apply the styles to the layer using style tab in Tool Options with 'Select And Move' tool. The sytle is only available in Hornil StylePix Pro. For more details, see the Style.
