Saving an Image

  1. Click the File > Save ( Ctrl + S ) or click the icon on the Main tools.
  2. Choose a location for the file.
  3. Select the proper format from the Save as type combobox.
  4. Type a file name.
  5. Click the Ok button.

Saving an Image in the JPEG format

When you save a file in JPEG format, a dialog is displayed that asking you to set the compression level, which ranges from 0 to 100. The default quality of 90 usually produces excellent results, but in many cases it is possible to set the quality substantially lower without noticeably degrading the image.

  1. Type the Quality setting.
  2. Click the Ok button.

Saving an Image in the GIF format

  1. Choose the least number of colors.
  2. Click the Ok button.
Tips
  • GIF is an 8-bit format, meaning it can save only up to 256 colors. GIF preserves flat colors and sharp edges better than JPEG.
  • JPEG retains image's full 24-bit color depth. JPEG preserves continuous-tone images than GIF.
  • PNG is created to improve upon and replace GIF. PNG supports 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA colors.
  • If you want to preserve the transparency, choose GIF or PNG.
